Ambassador Tigran Balayan’s visit and meetings in Leeuwarden

On April 1, 2022 Ambassador Tigran Balayan paid a working visit to the Friesland province of the Netherlands. The Ambassador was hosted in the Water Campus of the Netherlands, situated in Leeuwarden, toured the laboratories of the Campus, where the specialists of the field presented to him the Dutch experience and knowledge on water management. T. Balayan got acquainted with the immense innovative solutions carried out by the Netherlands with appliance of modern technologies, which helps to check the quality of drinking water, execute a multi-layer filtration process to provide the effective usage of resources and continuity of the circular economy.

T. Balayan presented to the Dutch colleagues the current needs of Armenia in the field of water. Practical approaches to establishing cooperation in specific areas were outlined.

The Ambassador then met with the Mayor of Leeuwarden Sybrand van Haersma Buma. The Ambassador suggested him to consider the implementation of joint programs aimed at transferring the Dutch experience of urban management and reformations to the local authorities of Armenia. The Mayor responded to the suggestions positively.

T. Balayan’s next stop was the Dairy Campus of Leewarden, which operates under the auspices of the worldwide famous University of Wageningen (Wageningen University & Research)

The Ambassador was presented to the activities of the research center, which was followed by a tour in different site locations at the premises of the Dairy Campus. The Ambassador witnessed the whole process of milk production and quality control.

An agreement was reached with the management of the center on organizing training courses for the Armenian specialists in the field, as well as perspectives of establishing a similar institution in Armenia.
